Győrkids again! – 15th Győrkids Festival

Győrkids again! The 30 years old Vaskakas Puppet Theatre is organizing the 15th Győrkids Festival between 1-3 July 2022.

Vaskakas Puppet Theatre has organized Győrkids Festival for the 15th time, from 1 to 3 July this year. The concepction of the festival is invariable: we want to turn the city centre of Győr into an enormous playground.

According to the previous years we sort the festival’s programmes by themes in the city centre of Győr (main locations: Széchenyi square, Kazinczy street, Bécsi kapu square, Castle walk, Cannons, Rába double bridge, Radó island). ’Once upon seven liberal arts, eco-friendly in Győr’ – the motto of the festival summarizes the goals of the organizers precisely.

With it’s 50 000 visitors Győrkids Festival became the biggest central european children’s festival. Despite the growth of the event, we still tend to keep the festival’s artistical character: each game and programme is unique and prime. Győrkids festival was awarded with ’excellent artistical festival’ trademark three times (by the Hungarian Festival Association). The European Festival Association named Győrkids as a classified european festival two times in a row, and the honourable ’Prime Western-transdanubian Event’ title was given to Győrkids by the Hungarian Tourism Agency.

The motto of Győrkids Festival is still the same: “1000 programmes on 10 locations, for which no pocket money is necessary, since it is free” – which means that Győrkids Festival is free for every child under the age of 14 who visits Győr and wears a Győrkids wristband. Free admission wouldn’t be possible without the generous supporters of the festival. Győrkids’s main sponsor is the Local Government of Győr City, which supports the event 13th time this year, providing significant financial and infrastructural background. In addition, Győrkids Festival has been supported by the Ministry of Human Capacities, the National Cultural Fund, as well as several Győr-based or -related entrepreneurs – without them Győrkids could not be what it is today. Besides them dozens of professional co-operators (from Rómer Museum to Pannonhalma Archabbey) and hundreds of volunteers help the festival organizer’s work.
